Saving money for a secret family summer vacation for next year?

I believe my family deserves a summer vacation for next year. I’m in college and do have a job and know how to save money wisely. But I would like to save money secretly without my parents knowing it will be for a vacation for the whole family. There are 4 of us in the family. I can budget really well and since this is the first time I’m going to pull such a surprise on them, I would like to know what I need to put in thought. I know I must consider the cost of a hotel room or a cabin (since my family loves the outdoors), money for gas, money for food, money for souvenirs, emergency money and etc… What is an reasonable amount to put away for next summer every 2 weeks???

I’m only 21 years old so I just need some advice from people that have done this before… I don’t know exactly what amount of money I should be shooting for either…
I want the summer vacation to be a good and worry free experience. The last time my family has been on an actual vacation was when I was in elementary school.

We’ll most likely vacation in our home state. I know my mom has been hinting a certain state park to vacation at. So I will choose that place for this surprise summer vacation.

Please and thank you for your help and advice…
I am very well aware of emergency road kits… Sorry I should have added that in. I’m a nature wanderer so I know about the emergency kits and first aid… Thanks!!!!

Are there hidden secrets about working in Wal-mart’s Cash Office that they dont tell us? Like the pay?

I’ve been working at wal-mart for over 2 years now. I’ve recently been moved over to the cash office for two days a week! I normally work the service desk. Just recently, I’ve had to work several days in the office due to another employee going on vacation. Now, I dont understand that they dont have anyone else to replace her and also that it seems this is billion dollar industry and they lack employees all the time. Anyway, without any notice, they scheduled me to work in there to replace her which will entitle me to be at work at 6 am every morning for a week and again I only work 2 days out of week. So you figure, now about 7 days straight and I’m already not getting the pay that the people in the cash office get. I feel used and I still get the pay that a normal cashier would be getting. My next step is to call home office management and complain but is there any other things I can do. The people there act like they cant control it but I think thats all jibberish and its a secret.
