South America - Good travel fiction to read?
Written by master on April 7th, 2009kommz asked:
Going travelling in South America (Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina) & Cuba next year, can someone recommend good topical reading while travelling? (not travel guides!)
Preferably travel fiction based in those countries, but true stories also welcome. Previous good travel reads i liked were The Beach (travel in thailand) and The Full Montezuma (travel in south america (very good!)). Any tips much appreciated!!

I recommend the Guide to the perfect Latin American Idiot.. its very good. Not a travel fictional book, but a book that explains the harsh truth of extremist left and right governments in latin america.
The other book is The Motorcycle Diaries: Notes on a Latin American Journey by Ernesto Che Guevara. It is good too.
